One of the nicest parts of being connected to a community of quiltmakers, both here in Seatte and beyond, is the simple act of sharing fabric. Claire and Melissa came to town a few weeks ago. It was a quick visit due to weather and travel time involved, but it was so good to spend time with them. Claire brought a stack of scraps to pass along to me, from the many beautiful quilts she has made over the past few years (and is still making). Explaining that some of these scraps are from her teenage years, they immdiately were mixed in with my own stash. These will be used in my future quilts, new scraps will be created and passed on, and the cycle will continue. Sharing scraps is the perfect way to support each other, even when we don't live in the same town. Just a little "keep it up". We are all making quilts with scraps gifted and saved from friends and our own stash. Such a nice thought.
