I have so many friends who talk about wishing they had skills to handmake this or that. I truly hear it all the time. They certainly could run around town and sign up for classes to learn to make a quilt, to crochet, to make toys, or embroider, although that sounds a little chaotic and time consuming. I'm excited to tell them about Interwoven. A four week online course, running February 4 thru March 1, 2013, created and taught by Lisa Solomon and Katrina Rodabough. Each week they will cover a new skill/medium through tutorials, project ideas, instructionals and interviews. Crochet, soft sculpture, embroidery, and making a mini quilt, all housed on a private blog. I'm going to be taking the course and I can't wait!
If you are thinking about taking an online class and have never done it before, my advice is to go for it. I have taken several online classes and I love the self-paced concept. You may remember how the online painting classes I took last year completely changed my creative direction! It's a great way to learn something new at your own pace.
