Thank you all for such thoughtful comments on our family sketchbook project. I had some questions about how long I sketch each day. Right now? Probably at least an hour, because there is time and enthusiasm! Hopefully, when this gets hard, I will have some technique and a little experience to create a rhythm to getting my sketches done each day.
Above is a sketchbook page of one of my favorite quotes, and one I try to remember when I'm thinking through what to keep and what to purge around the house. When I start to "rank" my belongings and decorations this way, it simplifies the process of paring down greatly for me.
If you have empty sketchbook pages, try doing the Zentangle method for text (I think the name "Zentangle" is kind of goofy, but I do enjoy the process).
