That's what I always tell my kids. I want them to push themselves a little bit and have a little fun as much as I want them to have time to relax and "be bored". I'm pretty choosy about summer camps, but we all enjoy the occasional break in routine (or lack of routine) a camp gives us, and I usually try to make sure there something to look forward sprinkled throughout the summer months.
Last week Emma took a glass blowing camp at the Seattle Glass Blowing Studio downtown and had so much fun. I came in each day a little early to watch what was going on and yes, she was actually heating, blowing, and forming the glass. In her words "It was amazing!" (Keep in mind she uses that line to describe all kinds of things, from glass blowing to a new potato chip, but I think it was genuine.) She came home with something she'd made every day, we all were completely impressed.

She has declared this her new ice cream bowl.
She even made a pendant for me.
The last day, she stayed late after class to finish, what else, a dragon. This piece excited her the most.
