Gosh, you guys are so great, thank you for the comments on Monday's post. I'm still at it, here on Day 8. I'm still starting stories to my friends with "When I used to eat food....", but even that is getting better, although you gotta keep your sense of humor (and honestly I'm not that hungry).
Some of you asked about what happens after the 21 days. On day 22 I will certainly be able to resume a regular diet, but the point is really to be mindful of how great I feel on the detox and break some bad habits (like eating at night). I don't want to ruin how good I feel by tipping it all in the opposite direction. Plus, I wanted to actually see if I could do without caffeine? And I can, I can! But people, let me assure you, I will never give up coffee completely. This is the girl who had 3 coffeemakers on her house tour, as Erica reminded me, I will NEVER live my life without coffee. The challenge to myself was to cut out the excess. Savor each cup and be aware of my consumption. Coffee is good and okay in moderation.
Another part of the "all about me" interlude I'm apparently taking is getting rid of things that take up mental and physical space. I am doing quite a bit of purging in the studio. The other week I took all of my Martha Stewart Living magazines to Goodwill (there they are up there). I kept maybe 20 of them (the kids and baby issues, a couple other favorites), the rest were packed up and taken immediately away. I've had a subscription since 1994, it has never lapsed and kept every one (I even supported the prison years!). I couldn't think of doing this before now, those magazines literally taught me how to be a homemaker. But inspiration comes from all different directions now, and I realized I haven't opened most of those mags in a year. I felt a momentary pang when I handed them over to a guy who couldn't have cared less what they were, but then I let it go. It felt good.
Plus it feels so good to have the extra space. There's really no looking back.

Little treats along the way make me happy as I go through this process. I treated myself to Rotavirus. Seriously! Lisa Solomon's Rotavirus print at Tiny Showcase. Lisa's work is so amazing. I love the colors and shapes in this piece.

Couple more things I am excited to share today. First, I have just signed on to speak again this year at the School House Craft Conference in September. I will keep you posted on the details. It was a really great event last year and this year is looking even better.
Today I am guest posting on Whip Up. A little peek into my studio and process. Thank you Kathreen!
