In the midst of a ton of things going on right now, I started obsessing thinking about adding a little sparkle to the dining room. Just cause. In its newest version, this room is so much cheerier and brighter than it has been (before and after pics in this post), I absolutely love everything about it. But there was a void in the corner, it just needed something there, nothing crazy or complicated, just something. I thought about a large plant (even though Gracie is good about not eating plants, THAT one would be the one, with my luck). I tried out a couple of things we had, which were okay but not the answer.
Craigslist to the rescue! This is actually one of those old tea carts, like ones that I envision in stuffy parlors full of chintz and little old ladies. It is perfect to hold the few bar accessories we have on the top shelf, and glasses on the bottom shelf. Instant, inexpensive sparkle. Paying only $25 for it, my original intention was to bring it home and have some fun maybe spraypainting the brass, or adding fabric or pretty paper under the glass, but now that I've lived with it for a few days, I think I like it as it is. What do you guys think?
We made mojitos on Friday night. Next we're having Pims.
I think I am bringing back the 6 o'clock cocktail hour at our house.
And OK, I will admit that maybe, just maybe I am using my new cart to search out some cool bar accessories. I need decanters, ice tongs, cute cocktail napkins, everything. I found these little wooden sticks on sale at Anthropologie last week-
Details- everything on the top shelf with the exception of the jigger, wooden pics, and Sailor Jerry rum are all from thrift stores. The Swiss glasses are from our local Daiso. The rest of the glasses are either from thrift stores or are very nice wedding gifts. Can you tell the difference?
Peter really appreciated all the enthusiasm over the kid's bathroom, you put a big smile on his face. He's threatening to start "Peter Craft", the blog, but I'm trying to just get him to write us up a little tutorial to begin with on how he did it. Stay tuned.
