The blog break, I mean. I don't have the excuse of saying that last week was all crazy and I didn't have a chance to sit down and blog. Really, it was just normal crazy, all the usual stuff. But Emma was on a week-long camping trip with her class.
And that made the other 3 of us in the house (and even Gracie the cat) tilt slightly over to one side.
It was weird.
I knew she was having fun, she has been waiting for this trip all year (and apparently it did not disappoint). But man, we missed her like crazy. I think Ian missed her more than anyone. So funny, just having Ian around. He's pretty awesome and so very sweet, but he's a talker (Melissa and Sally can vouch for this). During the past week, he proceeded to ramp up his "sharing" banter, every single random thought that he even considered thinking about out loud he shared with me...faithfully...at all times... I caught myself daydreaming about a blissfully solitary afternoon alone in a library.
Did he chatter to Emma this much when she was home? No, most definitely not, she'd lose patience after a minute I'm sure.
Poor sweetie, I think he was experiencing that same tilty feeling I had.
And missing Emma. One night? That was acceptable, felt like a sleepover. Two nights...ok, we were expecting to miss her. End of the week? It was like a scene from a movie, running to embrace a long lost love as I saw her get off the bus.
That night, with my small brood here at home, safe in bed, I slept better than I had in a week.
On another note, I have been working on fun things for my DIY weddings project which I hope to share with you soon (the photo shoot is a little over a week away). And I've been completely absorbed in a new quilting book, that I'll tell you all about. Tomorrow! Because Peter doesn't talk quilts like you guys do.
Why is it when I have pressing things to do all I want to do it make a new quilt??
Till then...
