Hello friends! This is what my kitchen counter looks like...a ton of jams and jellies and pie fillings that I am using for a photo shoot I'm styling tomorrow. (You home canners should see how many Weck tulip jars I have in my hot little hands. I bought a bunch for the shoot, their shape is so lovely. I can see why they are so iconic.)
So, forgive my random thoughts today, things calm down to a slow hum by mid week, which will be nice.
-I am so excited about Martha's latest book, Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts. I got a copy in the mail and dropped everything to flip through it. Not that I don't have every one of these projects all the back Martha Stewart Living issues down in our basement, because I do. But this book features the best of the best, without me having to try and remember which issue has which projects (and her website needs some work, seriously). This book is full of inspirational photos as always, descriptions and variations of techniques like simple stitches, applique, dying, printing... Within the first 15 minutes of reading it, I had my inspiration for our Mother's Day gifts.
(This project inspired the very first quilt I ever made, a quilt of Emma's baby clothes, back in 2003.)
I've been really wanting to make a star patterned patchwork something, and I think this may be the one.
One day I really want to work on our bathrooms using some of the ideas in this book.
- Pink Chalk Fabrics is having a HUGE sale to celebrate 2 years!
- I am still dancing around thinking about the 80's dance party that I went to on Friday. It felt so good to just dance and dance and dance!
- Melissa's quilt, I can't wait to see it come together.
