Do you like what I did to the house since I last met you here?
No, seriously...
I decided to keep myself busy during a traditionally gloomy weather month by grabbing a stack of interiors books from the library. I have had a lot of fun looking through these books, crouching by the window for light in the middle of the day (there are days I absolutely refuse to turn on all the lights around here).
These images are all from my favorite book of the bunch, Thrifty chic: Interior Style on A Shoestring. I love almost every page of this book because it shows vignettes and home settings showing the things I struggle with the most in decorating... arranging the knick knacks and creating a calming environment. Sometimes I get it right, but I usually feel like groupings of things become an unmeaningful hodgepodge of stuff. Books like this give me new inspiration for thrifting. New inspiration for old stuff. New and beautiful to us, and something possibly considered old and junky suddenly has a new life.
This book is all about mismatched chairs and dishes, pretty bed linens- clean sheet day'ers rejoice! (beautiful, simple quilts made from floral sheets). There are a few projects in the back of the book to get us inspired, like a button lampshade that's intriguing me.
