my favorite 4th graders making cookie mix
and Valentine cards at school.
A little Valentine celebrating is such a welcome respite from the cloud over Seattle in February. Don't get me wrong, I love my town, but I miss the sunshine and all that comes with that. I up my vitamin D intake dramatically during these months, but its just not the same. But cutting hearts and red fabric and covering the floor with cinnamon red hots makes me feeeeeeel sunnier for a bit at least.
A few places to direct you to-
*Handmade Help is a way we artisans and crafters can contribute aide in our own way to help those affected by the Australian brushfires. Over the weekend, I think I will start pulling together what I can to help someone restash. If you have anything at all, please consider donating.
*Kris, who has kids currently doing our ATC kids swap, sent this really clever idea I wanted to pass on-
"If you go to www.maps.google.com and then "my maps" and "create a new map" you can copy and paste the addresses of people in your swap and then place a pin in their general area. We created a map for each of the kids, with different coloured pins and can now view the world map and see all the places we'll be sending and receiving art to and from. Very cool."
Thank you Kris, I will definitely be doing this with Emma and Ian.
*I'm already hooked on 1000 words.
*Its time to change the sidebar books. There is so much reading going on around here in this middle of winter drear... I want to remember the hits (and maybe the misses too). Maybe a new banner too.
*Next week is yellow week over at Erin's. I am going to try and play along, but I am consistently inconsistent these days.
Hope you all have a sweet and loveable Valentine's day. Peter and I don't normally exchange gifts, usually cards. I did accidentally (I swear) notice a gift under his desk this afternoon.
I didn't see much, but it kind of looked like socks.
sexy.
