Well, I finished that belated birthday project I was working on when last we met here (and if you are my mother-in-law please divert your eyes away from the screen now). A project from my beloved Alabama Stitch Book, using even more of my surplus stash of navy and cornflower blue knits, stenciled the leaves in olive green fabric paint, and stitched it all in heavy gray thread. I get so much satisfaction from a project like this. I'm going to make another one right away. I sized this journal cover to work with larger sized moleskine journals like this, so it can be refilled. (The thread ends are meant to show at the seams.)
I love that something ordinary is now very special. It sort of feels like using the good china for breakfast with just you and the kids. I think we all should do that. I mean, what exactly are we waiting for? I hope there are grocery lists, friend's phone numbers, good recipes, and all sorts of little things scribbled in this notebook.
I'm still working on the skirt. Aaaaaand, I'm now pretty obsessed with carving my own linoleum stamps, which I'll show you soon. I realize that these two things are not really related in any way. Its been quite random around here.
I'm looking for a good summer read for our last little trip, can you guys give me some recommendations? I love historical fiction, love dysfunction, especially family dysfunction from 70's and 80's era. Is that specific enough, or just weird? Never mind, don't answer...
