These new charm bracelets make me so happy, I've had this in the back of my mind for months and just haven't had the time to sit down and make it happen. Once I finally focused in and started making these, I really could not stop. (Seriously, this jewelry making thing is totally fun.) Allison at Fusion Beads kept me focused in the right direction for supplies and helped to translate the jewelry making lingo for me ("um, jump ring? Oh, okay, I think I know what that is. How many of those would I need?"). These little charms are all (or at least several) favorite old fabric prints out of my stash, you've seen some of them before as fabric pendants.
What better way to love a favorite fabric that I'm a little afraid to cut?
I've always had a serious love for charm bracelets. That undeniable clinkly charm bracelet sound always makes me smile and
I usually cannot resist stopping anyone who has one on so I can take a
look. I think the first one I ever owned was given to me in high school by my skater rat boyfriend. He'd seen it in a second hand store and bought it for me. I knew he used what little money he had at the time to buy it, and it is still one of my all time favorite gifts. Of course, all the charms on it had been collected by someone else, but that made no difference, it really just it more interesting to me. I used to look at each one and imagine what it meant. Over time I added my own charms and they all became intertwined. I loved that about that little bracelet. I should pull it out. Maybe I'll make a nice display for it and this new one. You guys are inspiring me.
The funniest thing about making a charm bracelet is knowing when to stop. I could easily have just gone on...and on... Truth be told, I'm not sure its done yet. There will be a few of these in the shop in March, along with some other things I am really excited about. To celebrate Spring. I hope you'll check back.
