There is homemade vanilla ice cream to go with this that we are all drooling over right now.
A Happy Father's Day to you Dad's out there! Someone asked what I made for Peter, well, he got an ultrasuede IPod cozy. I followed the instructions here, but really, you don't need instructions, its super easy and quick.
I also wanted to say thank you to Heather for the fabric I recently got in the mail (a complete surprise, such a delight when that happens!). Those nesting dolls are making me very happy!
I'm on a New York Dolls kick right now, especially since we just watched this. It was good, I recommend it (especially if you like Morrissey, he's interviewed quite a bit in it...and that is not the least bit bad...)
Edited to add: Here's the strawberry recipe I use, its from the Martha Stewart Cookbook and it is truly delicious and foolproof. I buy premade pie crust made with organic unbleached flour because I've never been good at making pastry dough, so I'm leaving that part out.
Strawberry Pie
2 quarts of strawberries, well ripened, washed, hulled, and cut in half
1/2 cup sugar
1-2 Tbsp. unbleached, all purpose flour
juice of 1 lemon
whipped cream for garnish
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spoon strawberries into pie shell, then add sugar, flour, and lemon juice, slightly stirring around to distribute (I like the berries to mound in the center, and I wouldn't recommend skimping on the amount of berries). Brush the edges of the dough with a little water, then add on your premade pastry dough round for the top, pressing it around the sides to the bottom crust and trimming the excess. Cut a few slits in the top of the crust, then brush lightly with an egg/water mixture. Bake for 45-60 minutes or until golden brown. Allow pie to cool completely (its even better the next day). Makes one 10" pie. Must be served with ice cream or whipped cream.
