Emma created "heart-y" while sitting in the studio with me the other day(when all else fails in the name department, just add that "y" on the end). Usually any project Emma wants to do relies heavily on my ability to do a LOT of the work, drawing, cutting, threading the needle, untangling thread, making sure she doesn't use the coveted 1940's feedsack just because it has "cute kitties on it".
Apparently not any more. She cut it out, stitched it, embroidered it, stuffed it...
I was really impressed by her busy little hands. While we sat, we listened hard and tried to decipher the indecipherable lyrics of the Cocteau Twins~"Mom, I heard the word bicycle!" *As a sidebar, I promise I'm really not completely stuck on music from my college days, really I'm not! But when kids are conscious of every move I make, at least I know the lyrics of those old songs I love are predictable and for the most part harmless. Or, as in Elizabeth's case, just plain impossible to understand.
If Emma had her way, I'd probably have nothing to update my shop with.
Monday was no school for Emma, but school for Ian. We dropped Ian off and parked ourselves at a coffee shop and played card games for most of the afternoon, stopping long enough to walk to the library. And did I mention the weather felt like Spring yesterday?
Love that kid.
