thanksgiving
We are having guests for Thanksgiving this year (the more the merrier, I bake a gigantic turkey, I don't know why, but I always have). I've been having fun thinking of Thanksgiving decor. I can't wait to put together some sort of fun kid's table.
While catching up on blog reading, I saw this garland that Shanna made and fell in love with it. I spent Saturday and Sunday mornings cutting out leaves (find your leaf templates here), using all the woolens and heavy upholstery fabric I have in my stash. Any fabric that wanted to fray on the edges just got a back layer of muslin (attached with heat-n-bond). I love how they turned out. Thank you Shanna for the inspiration. I may make a wreath with these, definitely place cards for the grown-ups. (Although for the kid's table, I'm thinking of something more like this).
I love everything Thanksgiving is about, it is one of my favorite holidays. For years, it was all about getting the food prepared (lots of practice to get all that food ready and warm at the exact same time). But now that I have been preparing Thanksgiving dinner for 10 years, I think I've got it. Moving on to the decorations.
