Our cold toes were telling us it was definitely time to do a seasonal changeover. Although I was a little sad to pack up my beloved quilt for the winter, I must admit that I do so enjoy the ritual of changing the house over to reflect the seasons. This is the winter dress for our bed. I bought this comforter cover at Pottery Barn years ago, deeply discounted. I should say I'm not especially fond of velvet (its ok, but after having cats for years, I never gravitate toward it) and have never swooned over the colors this is done in. But, as I may or may not have written about before, Peter and I have some serious his and hers decorating dilemmas. Its hard! I have the mixed blessing of a man who has an opinion about the interior of our house. We often don't see eye to eye, and when we finally agree I could almost swear I see a total eclipse in the sky because of it. So...at the time I bought this, I was really loving the bed on the cover of this book. He didn't completely balk at the idea of it, so I jumped while I had the chance. To simplify things, this was my store bought version. It represents a compromise between two strongly opinionated people, and that's ok with me. Its super heavy, I could easily see someone pulling their back out from the sheer act of inserting a down comforter into this thing. But, boy is it toasty in the winter. And I am always cold, except for about three weeks in the middle of the hottest part of the summer.
I think I need to finally make the rest of these to put in a vase by on that table there. (That table is rarely that clean, I did it for you.)
When we moved into this house, we bought ourselves a new bed frame and mattress. There's not much we splurge on, but it took having kids for us to fully appreciate how important good quality sleep is. We spared no expense to help us rest at night. I am thankful every single night I crawl into this pile of covers and pillows. Its been life changing, having a good quality mattress, bed dressings, sheets, pillows, etc. Top that off with a little horizontal research before bed, and sleep is inevitable...and perfect.
Do we care to see more seasonal changeover here?
