stitching up the Stitchettes

A new pillow featuring the Stitchettes (looks like the patterns are sold out, but postcards are still available). These girls made me remember how immensely satisfying embroidery is.  I haven't done a lot of it lately.  Drawing on fabric with all those lovely colors.  So fun and almost instant gratification.  It is just the type of crafting I needed to wind down my summer.  I will always associate stitching up these cuties with the memory of Peter and I, sitting down at the end of the day, watching season two of Carnivale, and enjoying every minute.  A true bonding experience, because we rarely find anything we both enjoy watching on TV...ever.  I'm sorry that show didn't continue.  I am a true fan.  And yes, Peter and I have checked out all the "save Carnivale" websites and blogs.  It sounds like it was what is was...and won't be again.  Oh well.

Gosh I just love these little gals.  I needed them for Emma's room the minute Hillary started creating them.  We have an illegal amount of stuffed animals around here (and I swear to you, they all get played with), so I worried that making each one of these into a little stuffed doll would just get them lost in a pile.  So, I just used scraps of linen and patchworked them into a pillow.  So, hopefully they will never go missing in a sea of fake fur.

I made an envelope back, using fabric from Emma's comforter cover

So, onto the bigger projects I have planned for this room.  Those walls aren't going to turn blue by themselves.  A blue shade called "Merry Go Round" was placed in my hand.  I still need to decide if its the name or the actual shade that won her over.

Its not a bad color.  Sure blends nicely with my dishes.

I feel my creative energy coming around again.  Sometimes, making something simple, like this pillow, I start to remember how much I love to surround myself with handmade things.  So, the cycle begins again.
