Quilted Handbag

Dscn0876_1

This is another Japanese-inspired handbag.  From a book that many of us already know and love, "Machine Made Patchworks".

It is based on this black quilted bag, which has a wonderful shape-

I don't have a lot of black fabrics in my stash (a bit telling- I'm apparently not in a black clothing stage of my life at the moment), and did the old toss 'em up and use 'em the way they land to determine the layout of the fabrics I used.  The only thing I had around the house during construction to use for the straps was suede.  Turns out that suede works really well to help keep a bag from constantly slipping off your shoulder.  This is a problem when I'm constantly bending over to help my kids with something.

Simple, straight line quilting.

Nice handbag.Colours and patterns are great.

Love, love, love it!! Terrific fabrics and colors, the suede strap and quilting - great job! I've always admired this bag and you've really pulled it off, improving on the original :)

Your bag is beautiful, much, much nicer than the black.

Eurcinia,
I too love the Japanese quilted bag on the wisecraft blog. Did you ever receive instructions and would you share them with me?

Your bag has a very retro look, it reminds me of the 30's, don't know why.
Very nice, love it a lot!

I love this bag I would love the instructions.....if not how can I get the instructions you have?
