Well, hello! I'm glad you stopped by. I guess you're on this page because you would like to know something about me. Well, let's see...
I am Blair, and I live in Seattle, Washington with my husband, Peter, and my son, 7, and daughter, 10. My husband and I own a brand consulting agency called Story Trading . We work at home, in the midst of frenetic kid energy and family life, trying to remember to laugh and embrace the chaos blending everything under one roof. I have a background in apparel and fabric design but left the industry when my kids were born. I find enjoyment and sanity in sewing, knitting, all kinds of crafting. This blog, which I started in September of 2005, is my space to talk about what I'm inspired by and what I make. You may read me rambling on pointlessly about how I love a certain color of blue...the way winter sun looks on the walls...or music...or cake...you get the idea...
I also write regular blog postings for Boomerang Journal.

Some commonly asked questions answered here-
How do I get it all done?
~I don't. I definitely don't! (My kids had no clean underwear last night at 7:30 because I hadn't done the laundry!) My life is far from perfect, organized, and tidy. I have a very understanding family and am allowed the time to create when I'm driven to, even if it sometimes means no dinner on the table because of a big deadline. It helps that my kids are quite independent here at home and are able to entertain themselves without much help from me. I'm also very lucky to have a sunny craft studio on the main floor of our home to work in. This means I can work near to my family and converse with them, and my projects don't have to be cleaned up and put away the end of the day. I just close the door.
Any words of wisdom?
~Slow down and look closely at the world around you. There is inspiration in the simplest things that may go unnoticed when we hurry past them.
~Lists and pretty blank journals with you at all times really make all the difference. I used to be one of those "Oh, I'll remember" type of girls, but no more.
~Carry your camera with you wherever you go. The beauty of digital photography is that you can snap dozens and dozens of pictures of any and everything around you. Often looking at a photo of a beautiful flower, the chipped paint of an old doorway, or my kids playing at the park can unexpectedly spark an idea or thought (you'll need your notebook for that too). I love it when that happens.
~Don't feel guilty about having several projects going on at the same time and feeling like none ever seem to get finished. I often feel like knitting some days, and sewing on another day, and making paper flowers the next day. Its the way I work. I believe its part of the passion we feel for what we do.
~Often an idea of mine falls by the wayside before the project is completed. If its not working for me, out it goes and on with the next. Time is too precious. Course, there are times when I know that sticking with it till the end is an important process for me (like making a quilt). Its the way so many of us work and, believe me, I've lived that way all of my adult life with no ill effects (at least none I'm aware of).
~Do you know where I could find that newsprint fabric you made the fabric flower tutorial from ? Sorry, that fabric has since been used up and none is left in my stash.
~What kind of camera do you use? I use a Nikon D40, purchased after my D50 was stolen a few years ago, boo!
